Deck Guide

Page history last edited by elysium.roleplay@... 1 yr ago

Elysium is comprised of 9 decks, each with its own specific characteristic. This guide will describe what each deck is called and why, and its most prominent features.

Sparta Deck

This is the main control center, the brain of the ship. No character can access this deck or even find it. Most don't even know it exists. It's not even listed on the master directory. The Captain and his operational crew work and reside here. The deck is only accessible by a special key card and retinal scan through some mysterious hidden door. In this deck are power limiters/removers that affect the decks below.

Olympus Deck

This deck is where all the good stuff is. Shops, parks, entertainment, the like. What's up there is listed here. On this deck, characters can also obtain jobs for extra credits. This deck is also where all the special events and parties take place.

This is a pretty unusual deck as it has its own internal climate system. As such, skies are visible here. There is actual weather on this deck to stimulate the 4 seasons of the year. But it seems to rain more when Sasuke is emo.

Elevator

There are a few elevators present at this deck that go down to the first three residential decks (Eridanos, Lethe, and Cocytus). Any persons who wish to go down to the lower decks must use the stairs present at the Cocytus deck to get down to Acheron and Phlegathon.

Residential Decks

There are 5 residential decks in the Elysium, all named after the rivers of the Greek underworld. All decks have suites or apartments consisting of a kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. All apartments have computers to access the network inside the Elysium. A layout of how the rooms look like can be found here. While all rooms in all decks have the same layout, furnishings and additions (i.e. heater, AC, etc.) are obviously different.

Eridanos

Eridanos, the river rich in amber, is the best residential deck on the ship. The furniture is the best available. The TVs get practically any channel a character could wish for (i.e. HBO and pr0n channels, yes). The AC is tuned to exactly the right tempurature. There are jacuzzis in the bathrooms. The kitchen is immaculate. Residents get their own laptops and own TVs for their rooms. Rooms here get king-sized beds and luxurious sheets and pillows. This is where every character would want to live.

Lethe

Lethe, the river of forgetfulness and concealment. It's not as great as the Eridanos deck but it's still pretty nice. The furnishing's quite nice, the tub's rather big, not quite a jacuzzi, but close enough. Not as many channels on the TV, but it's still a rather big selection. Rooms here have queen-sized beds with luxurious sheets and pillows. Residents here also get laptops to access the network.

Cocytus

Cocytus, the river of wailing and lamentation, as well as the middle deck. This deck is pretty mediocre. Mediocre furniture, mediocre bathroom, mediocre selection on the TV. Residents of this deck will find decent desktops in their rooms. Also this is the last deck the community elevator stops at. While this deck is pretty so-so, it could be a lot worse. Still, this deck gets a queen-size bed but sheets and pillows are average.

Acheron

This is where the rooms start to fail. Acheron, the river of woe and the deck that matches the river's name. It's pretty woeful. The AC/heater system works intermittently and it would be some sort of miracle to have it repaired. The furniture is pretty bad, but livable. The TV gets some stations but the better stations are pretty fuzzy and snowy. Residents will find an average desktop that can only do average things. Rooms here have full-size beds with mediocre sheets and pillows. Don't bother with the elevator, it doesn't stop here. Take the stairs.

Phlegathon

Phlegethon, the river of fire and the deck of fail. This deck is a dump. The AC/heater doesn't work and the deck's always the wrong tempurature. Don't bother calling for repairs or trying to repair it yourself. The furniture's pretty crapy and the TV gets poor reception. The desktops work most of the time, but it doesn't work very fast at all. Rooms here have a twin-sized bed with average bedding. Take the stairs. Elevators won't stop here either.

Hades Deck

The deck is exactly as the name implies: hell. This is where the bad characters get sent. When the Captain finds someone breaking the rules in some way or another, he has them dragged off to here in the most humiliating means possible. The place has no light. The room is tight but the exact size is unknown. The unlucky inhabitants get only bread and water thrice a day. They're stuck here for at least 24 hours, longer if the muse has been bad (or the mun is particularly evil) and then dumped back somewhere on the Elysium. How to get here is unknown. Escape is impossible, and no one ever wants to go back. Like the Sparta Deck, the Hades Deck won't appear on any directory.

Crete Deck

This deck makes the ship work. Yup, this is the engine room. Once again, this is another one of those decks that's impossible to find but you know it's there. It's hot, noisy, and cramped, housing all the mechanical and electrical technology used to power the ship and everything on it. It has a huge fusion reactor core which allows for seamless jumping between multiverses to pick up more clueless residents. Most residents wouldn't even notice the noise and work from this deck. It's not listed on the directory either. To those sentenced to the Hades deck, the Crete deck is most noticeable from all the noise it creates.
